Day 1 - Inuvik (L,D)
You’ll arrive at Inuvik airport where your guides will greet you and take you to your boat to load up your luggage and set out for Shingle Point! Boating through the snake-like channels that until now, you’ve only seen in photos and film, you’ll experience The Mackenzie Delta at its finest!
After a boat-ride filled with scenery, photo opportunities and local knowledge from your Inuvialuit guide, you will arrive at your first camp at Shingle Point where the group will make camp and settle down for dinner. Now is your opportunity to explore the magical area, swim in the Arctic Ocean, and relax under the midnight sun!
Day 2 - Herschel Island (B,L,D)
Wake up and enjoy a breakfast made by your personal cook and breathe in the fresh air! Get ready to venture back to the Arctic Ocean as we make our journey to Herschel Island. Herschel Island is beautiful and abundant with marine and wildlife, it Is located 5 km off the coast of the Yukon. This morning trip is invigorating with new stunning sights along the way. Make sure to look out for whales and other exciting marine life while you journey over. Arriving at Herschel Island you
will have time to explore the wonders of the island, try local cuisine, or just read a book with a glass of wine under the midnight sun along the Arctic Coast.
Day 3 – Herschel Island (B,L,D)
Today another epic adventure begins, as this day is yours to explore Herschel Island and discover what awe-inspiring wonders the area has to offer. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then set out on your first half of the day, hiking in this prestigious park with your local park rangers and learning about the important heritage and history here, as well as stories from Herschel Island that have been passed down for generations, adding to the rich local culture. From late July to early August you will experience an explosion of color as there are over 200 species of plants growing on the island. Lots of animals can be found on this island including Porcupine Caribou, Lemmings, Arctic Shrews, Muskox, Arctic Foxes and sometimes even Grizzly Bears. Over 94 species of birds have been recorded to live on the island. The second half of the day is also adventure-filled as you spend it fishing in the Arctic Ocean for Arctic Char. These waters are also filled with Pacific Herring, Arctic Cod, Arctic flounder, Seals and whales! After your adventurous, discovery-filled day hiking and fishing, you will return to you camp for another relaxing evening under the Midnight Sun in the Arctic Circle.
Day 4 – Inuvik (B)
Wake up to another fresh Arctic morning, and enjoy a beautifully prepared breakfast as you soak up these epic surroundings! After breakfast it’s time to pack up your luggage because you’ll be taken to the runway where a private plane will pick you up for your trip back to Inuvik Remember: You may be leaving the Arctic, but after this unforgettable experience, the Arctic will never leave you!
